Dan and all, I just noticed that the ISSF was sold to some company that owns like 50+ auto forums... Perhapse we could talk to HACK on the ISSF and see if the new owners might want to integrate some or all of INEGMA into the new ISSF.. I mean the FS section etc we don't need two of them, but having a RAISSE section might not be a bad idea...

A big +1 on the thanks for hosting for all of these years. I'd say something about being happy to host it, but I know nothing about the logistics of forum software.

I don't get on the national forum much because I like the local feel of INEGMA. With that said, there's maybe a dozen people who use it any more. Since Dave set up a facebook page for RAISSE, maybe we should just move over there. Looks like we can post topics and pictures, and it's free and no back-end attention required.

It would be nice to save the data on the forum... Since it's only 120MB other than pictures, that should be easy enough, right? Even with the pictures, it'd still fit on a DVD.

What ever happens I can go along with and a Big THANK YOU to all those who kept this up for so many years. Never would have gotten as much done with my car had it not been for this site. I do agree Pizza would be a good idea. I have some free weekends in Dec but i go to FL shortly after christmas if anyone wants to meet up.

Hi guys,

First of all, a big thanks to Dirty "Dan" Esteban for all he's done for the B Body community, not only for everybody who's enjoyed the INEGMA forum over the years, but also for maintaining the top ET page all this time.. Thanks Dan!

I haven't been very active here or the ISSF for the past few years, I do still love all you guys and the B Body community, which somehow is still ticking even after these cars have been gone almost 10 years now.. I just don't spend as much time online as I used to, and haven't been active on any forums really.. I almost lean towards thinking that the stand-alone message forum is kind of an outdated concept in some ways. There are newer technologies like facebook and twitter that offer the same kind of community features in a much larger environment. I don't see it as all that different from back in 2002 when we were saying that having a message forum, from a technological stand point, kind of trumped using a listserv and yahoo groups.

I set up a facebook group for INEGMA tonight, if you don't have a facebook account, find a 15 year old kid to set one up for you, and then join the group. go to http://www.facebook.com/groups/inegma and click Join Group.

I definitely like the idea of discussing this over Pizza at a mutually agreeable time..

Thanks everybody,

-dW

Maybe you should work on your math. The cars have been gone going on 14 years on Monday.

BTW, my apologies too, when I logged in today I saw this: Welcome back; your last visit was: Sep 15 2009, 03:40 PM - OUCH!

Just wanted to say hello and thanks for the ride!

Hey guys-
The footprint of the site is actually pretty small... About 2.5GB worth of files (1.8GB of forum uploads, 250MB of photo gallery uploads, forum src, etc.) and about 120MB of database. One of the main issues is that, in order to integrate the free 4images photo gallery into the forum so you could use the same credentials I had to do some custom hacks in the photo gallery and forum software so any upgrades or updates would need to be re-hacked to get it to work. There were also other hacks that I can't recall right now but either way someone would need PHP and DB proficiency to get things to work if an update needed to be done...

That said, my recommendation would be to just start fresh on one of the free (or close to free) forum hosting sites online. You can try http://www.forumotion.com for starters to get an idea of how they work when they're hosted by a 3rd party (I'm not sure myself). I wouldn't even try to import the forum's current iteration due to the hacks explained above and going forward from a clean slate would offer a major chance to clean up and re-organize the site for the future...

Any questions, please let me know. Thanks!

-Dan

Hey Dan - Can you reach out to this tech contact - he's from the ISSFM - I got his info from the ISSFM board's moderator Helena. She thinks there might be a way to consolidate INEGMA's old data into ISSF

Nadeem is the guys name and his email is

THanks - Dave

Just wanted to say thanx as well.
My time here has been a mere drop in the bucket of time, but fun none the less.

if ISSF is not an option to mold the data into maybe the guys at http://badass-of-ne.forumotion.com/
could hold all the data this place holds....?

I really think it would be a shame to just pull the plug on this place without trying to export the data and import it to another B-body related site.... helpme.gif

anyway, good luck to all in the future.
