I heard on the news this morning that GM is planning on investing $400M into the Oshawa, Ontario plant. It will be one large plant making variations of the upcoming RWD Zeta platform, which includes the Camaro, Buick Lucerne and Cadillac DTS.

Apparently the next redesign of the Impala will also be built on this platform in 2009.

Very good news for the workers in the plant as it may just save all the jobs that are slated to be cut, and good news for us car guys because it announces GM's return to mainstream RWD sedans. Something it desparatly needs to combat the success of the DC RWD sedans.

Do you suppose that GM, after all these years of thousands, if not millions, of people griping to them has finally decided to listen to the customer and build what people want? I know there have be petitions, on-line websites, all sorts of things to tell them we want V-8 powered RWD cars.

Maybe they finally WILL start building something I would like to own once again. I don't know if it took Chrysler building their hot rods to get GM to pull their collective hear out of their ass, but maybe that is just one more reason to like the Charger and it's ilk.

How about a loaded Buick LS6 with leather and a 465L tranny, alloy wheels, ...? I might look twice. We shall see...

GM and Delphi have to settle first, one way or the other. Then the official announcements will come.
