Anyone want to try and get a group purchase going?? blink.gif

Posted by: sherlock9c1 Mar 18 2004, 03:57 PM

I need a new set of fronts.

Posted by: Heavy Chevy 95 Mar 18 2004, 04:54 PM

Ben if the price is right I will probally be interested in a set that was made for the Boxey style 9c1 Caprices.
Still running the original decarbons on the Impala ss from 3-95.

http://www.shox.com
This is the last place that I bought my Bilsteins 4 years ago for my 9c1.

I believe our National club ISSCA.gif .
Has a deal with this wholesale company in California.

Around the summer of 97,
I blew out one of the orange factory decarbon shocks ignore.gif at 25,000 miles.

Oil spot on the garage floor gave it away.

Chevy dealer charged GM around $130.00 for this one shock moon.gif.

Which was installed for free under the new car factory warranty.

oh yea the sooner the better...count me in,,, i was going to order them thru http://www.shox.com/appguide/shoxshop/productsdisplay.php

Posted by: BradsDCM Mar 18 2004, 10:07 PM

Will these work with my Hotchkis springs...being that the car is lowered? Would they be compressed, and not be right? huh.gif

Posted by: PIG124 Mar 18 2004, 10:24 PM

That's great and I am glad there is some interest. I will call www.shox.com's 1-800 number and try to set something up for the GP.

As far as the pictures John, I hope to have something around May or June! bowdown.gif lildevil.gif cool.gif The chevelle just got a new clutch put in it peelout.gif...again. Too long of a story to tell but basically I won the battle of a long disagreement with my dad about clutch adjustment banghead.gif ...hence the new clutch! tongue.gif moon.gif

Will let everyone know what I find out from shox.com's people for helping us out with a GP.

If there is any more interest please add to the thread.

My understanding w. Bilsteins are that if your car is dropped then the Sport package is the way to go....if it as factory suspension then go w. HD....

here is a link that kinda explains the difference

maybe pencil me in as a possible. i've got the monroe's on there now, and i will need to see how they behave with the drop springs.

Benny,

Put me in on the Bilsteins. I have to keep my VSP in tip top shape. I cant be taken turns doing 95 MPH. with old worn out shocks.

Too bad, I just purchased mine or else I would have gotten in on this deal.

FYI: I purchased mine from eshocks.com - they offered free shipping. Total was about $269 delivered anywhere in the 48 states. (give or take a dollar or two - I forget what the exact amount was but including shipping it was the cheapest place I could find. biggrin.gif )

Ok, here is a great deal from Mark at SHOX.com.

They have the Sport and HD Bilteins to fit our B-bodies for the following:

$249.80/set of 4 + shipping of $20 = $269.80/set of four

This breaks down, including shipping, to: $67.45/each. I think this is a decent deal.

What are everyone else's thoughts? blink.gif

So far I have the following people interested:

Joel - 1 pr front
John W - 1 set boxy
Rob K - 1 set
BradsDCM - 1 set
Adam S. - 1 set (penciled in)
Kenny B - 1 set
Myself - 1 set

ANY ADDITIONS/DELETIONS, PLEASE ADD TO THE THREAD! Thanks!

Good Morning Everyone! wink.gif

I was working last weekend and am just getting caught up here at work before I dive into my next project for the week.

I will talk to Mark at SHOX.com and see if we can set something up to use UNYISSO as our "code" or "password" to get the discount. His last e-mail was that they are looking forward to our response and business.

Dilbert, send me a PM for how I can get in touch with you about getting you your shocks. It might be easiest if you order them and have them shipped to one of the guys' houses. Let me know!

I will let everyone know later today what I find out from Mark.

FINALLY! I finally got in touch with Mark at SHOX.com and he said that we can use the following password to get the Group Purchase discount on these great Bilstein Shocks! biggrin.gif

Password: "UNYISSO"

Rob, in my infinite wisdom, I forgot to ask about the shipping provider faintthud.gif . I am assuming that it is probably UPS or FedEx, or "FedUP" tongue.gif

I don't believe there is a time limit for us to purchase these shocks from SHOX.com, but am wondering if we should set a date at which we should close the Group Purchase on our end...suggestions??

Everyone can go to SHOX.com to check out the site and see what they want and call. Thanks for everyone's interest! cool.gif

Just ordered my set. Going to have receipt of the shocks next Tuesday or Wednesday. I asked for Darrell and he took care of me. wink.gif

They offer the "sport" and "HD" (heavy duty) bilstein shocks. I asked about applications and Darrell said that the "sport" bilsteins have the same application for the Impala SS as the Caprice's. There is an extra $30 bones if you get the heavy duty bilsteins, but he said almost all of their customers go for the sport model for both cars.

Gonna be sweet to have the frontend totally rebuilt this spring! pimp.gif

Question on the Bilsteins. I wrote down the 1104s and the 0929s. You now say that 1 of the shocks is for sport, and the other is heavy duty.

I would presume sthe heavy duty are the better ones. Which 1 is the 1104 and the 0929s ???????????

I need about 2 weeeks before I order mine.

Kenny! afroman.gif

I just asked to speak to Darrell like the Sparkplug did and told him what car I had (year, make, model........) and he said sports or HD's (heavy duty's). I was like what's the difference and he said price and the HD's are a softer ride.

I told him that my '96 civi caprice is stock and hasn't been lowered any and he said that the sports would fit just fine as they are the same referenced part for both the Caprices and Impala SS's.

Can't wait to get them! lildevil.gif discomonkey.gif

I got my front end kit from Zack Kanter yesterday after I finally saved up enough $$$ to throw down on it and still got a great deal from him! cool.gif

Give Darrel these part numbers that you need for your 95 Chevrolet Caprice Classic.

Two - 1104 Shocks - Sports
Two - 0929 Shocks- Sports.

Now Ben if there was anyway we could wrap some LED lights around those Shocks hahaha.gif
It would be a Dynamic Gift for the Kid from the Bronx. pimp.gif

Yo Johnny, I know you like my LEDS. I have a new set in my workshop that has been sitting for months. They are 4 inch round reds. I have 4 of them set up to go on each side of the rear deck for Brake Lights.

I have 2 Amber on eachside for my Signals. These are the ones you see on the Big Rigs that I used to drive in the 70s and 80s.

I am sure they will knock your Socks off when you see them hooked up.

TECH TIP :

For removing wornout front shocks on our Vehicles.

UNYISSO's Mod Master gave this tip wink.gif years ago for a quick and easy removal of that stubborn upper nut that just spins on the shock ohmy.gif

This procedure is only for front shocks going in the Garbage can.

Get you deep well socket and your longest 3/8 extension.

Wiggle that top nut and stud as far as it will go to snap off the nut.

Drivers side took me 5 sways back and forth with the bar when it snapped the shock stud and nut off.
Passenger side took 20 sways with the extension bar for it to snap the nut for easy shock removal.

New Bilsteins installed today at home with some floor jackets.

Nice firm controlled ride jump3.gif now

In case anybody's wondering, I just tried to order the 1516 (for my roadmaster) and the guys at Shox.com said that they're out of stock with unknown resupply date. I'm gonna try the Monroe Severe Service shocks discussed on the http://impalassforum.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=16;t=002410 on both my 9c1 and the roadmaster.

EDIT....Nevermind on the 1516s; they are back in stock. $71 apiece. $24 total shipping from their store in California to Syracuse.

Posted by: 95RMW Sep 26 2006, 05:32 PM

I've had Bilstein 929/1104 shocks on both my Roadmonster wagons (the 92 and the 95) if these are the soft ones thank God I didn't get the stiff ones or my a$$ would be up to my shoulders.

True the car is running on rubber bands 255/35/20 lowered on Sprint springs with Airlift bags in the rear springs set at about 5 lbs. but Dahammmmmm it is anything but squooooshy. I can count the pebbles in the road.

I believe the 1104 / 0929 combo is the stiffer of the two Bilstein choices that most people go with.

Posted by: The Impalanator Oct 7 2006, 09:27 PM

The 0929/1104 combo are the stiffest. They are linear damped. The 1516/1517 combo are progessively damped, therefore get stiffer the harder they're pushed, but have a tendency to have "highway float". This is the primary reason I chose the1104/0929 combo. You don't want the highway float. I installed them after the DeCarbons gave up the ghost at about 55,000 miles. Nice shocks. My .02
Also, much better than the original KDWS's are these Conti Extreme Contacts in our stock size of 255/50R 17. Check the pic.

Posted by: fothermucker Jun 26 2007, 08:19 PM

Errr is it too late to get in on this? tongue.gif I desperately need new shocks - I'd go for the 0929/1104 combination.

Posted by: fothermucker Mar 31 2009, 06:07 PM

Yup still need new shocks. tongue.gif
