For quite a while now, I've noticed that when I click on "view new posts" it doesn't always work the way I expect it to. Sometimes it shows me huge lists of posts, and other times it says there's not been any new posts since my last visit, but a quick browse shows otherwise.

Can any of the moderators shed light on this?

Yeah, I am curious, too- was following an interesting thread about the "Tri-Y headers" that Mike T is offering, where Dan F. has filled us in on the "rest of the story"

I would be curious to hear both sides of the issue, explained, rationalized, justified, by both people- I know both players, and would like to hear others take on this, BUT-
the thread mysteriously ended, or, more accurately, was truncated. Just when it was getting interesting!

Legal liabilities? Name calling? Refusal to get involved? Who knows? Not me! Hmmmm

Oh, to answer the orignal post- Are you logging in from different machines? The server may not recognize that you had been there previously. Just a guess- although I grant you that I have seen some flakiness, too-

As far as the header topic, I don't know what happened. I'll look into it.

The recent topics issue may be due to the version of the message board software we're using. It's probably linked to the same issue where forums that have no new topics are still marked on the main page as if they have new topics.

The reason why we haven't gone to the latest version of the software is 3-fold...

A) This release is the latest free one.
2) It would be tricky getting the skins up to snuff (I'm really busy with actual work work).
III) It's been over a year and no complaints until now. If it's a big problem, we might have to think about upgrading, but that would mean paying for the software and downtime of a day or two.

Let me know if it's bugging everyone and we'll see what we can do.

I was just wondering if it was a quick fix. Now that I'm a dad, I understand having little free time. If it's time-consuming or costs money, I'll gladly live with it.

Yeah, no complaints here, either- the 'header' fault was what old radio guys would call a "short-circuit between the headphones" or what I would call passing a brainstone- (turns out there are similar threads in a couple areas, and I was watching the wrong one)

Let me also give you guys my thanks for your efforts and work keeping this assorted band of crazies going- Wish I could shake your hand and buy you a beer- The Northeast forum is gaining a national following- I hope we can get a couple more of the 'heavy hitters' of the 9C1 forum in here- there is a wealth of accumulated knowledge out there-

Good point John.

Dan / Bill / dW or anyone else that helps run this board, where can I send a donation to for the cause?

Willy,
If you see my buddy Roy Coneybear hanging out at my old stopping grounds.
(Back in 2001 - 9c1 forum was my hangout)
Say Hello to him for me.
I would love have him on inegma.gif.
I could catch up with him on the ISSF.

Roy is the 9c1 parts guy of canada.gif
I hear it maybe snowing in his town already.

Wutz
