Not a B-body, but a cool project that is reaching its end... The car is from Des Moines, I am second owner to the car, the first guy was an absolute fanatic, there is no rust other than surface oxidation where the undercoating has disappeared, all of the floor pans are still factory coated along with the wheel wells. For only being a few hundred pounds heavier than the B-body, things sure were beefy back in the day, just check out that driveshaft! The engine pictured is a fully rebuilt Cadillac 472, flywheel rating for this engine with slight overbore and slightly hotter cam is around 385hp / 540 ft.lbs. Everything on the car is being rebuilt/restored except for interior which is flawless. Im focusing on the firewall forward for now, the rest of the restoration will be completed on the lift during winter months or rainy days.

If any of you would be interested in trying your hand at some classic Caddy work, let me know, I am always up for trading labor!

Jeff - That car looks clean - by the looks of the house/garage looks like your Dad/Family may be into cars too!

Nice new backing plates on the brakes - are those NOS hinges or have you been using the Eastwood family of detailing paints/coatings (they've got a great coating process that duplicates the color, sheen, hues, and tints, of cadmium plating used on master cylinder vacuum canisters, hinges, covers etc.)

Car look great straight, rust free, and second owner - looks like you've got a winner and a keeper!

Thanks Dave! Unfortunately, im the only one around here into cars. The Crashler seen in one of the photos was a neighbor that recently moved out, the Crashler was towed away by some "rural" residents the day we were working on Jonathan's car. The Caddy thus far has been a solo project, padre has the knowledge just not the time, and up until meeting this fine group of wrenchheads, I haven't known anyone that has the ability to work on cars to such an extent! So please if any of you would like to come over and putter around on the Caddy let me know!

Those hinges and backing plates are original to the car. The master cylinder was purchased new with cap already plated and the booster was done by a specialist who also plates. I'm dedicated to doing a true FACTORY restoration so I found a local plating company to redo the yellow zinc platings you see in the pictures. The name of the company escapes me but it is right off Buffalo rd. They mainly deal with commercial size batches, but I threw the guy 30 bucks to add those parts to a batch and man they look great, they were sandblasted as prep.

To note: True cadmium plating is nearly non-existant today because the process involves cyanide. I worked at a Rolls-Royce shop up on Clifford, the owner would collect rare RR parts throughout the year and toss them in a big bucket, I would sandblast all the parts in preparation for sending them to Canada for cadmium plating, they return with a silvery finish. The gold colored cadmium was done by adding pigment to the mix, it is old but effective way of plating, but zinc plating has taken its place and the differences, in my case, are indistinguishable.
