Like the topic title says - Who in the Rochester area wants to meet up at the "local drag strip" New York International Raceway Park
(NYIRP) on wednesday nights? -
The strip is about 35 minutes from Rochester - straight down 390 south to the geneseo exit - (has some nice open straight streches can you say maximum warp speed?) then thru the town of geneseo past the SUNY campus down 63 take a right onto 20A towards cuylerville, continue thru to 'downtown' Leicester bear right in the town's traffic circle turn right on rt 36 (just past the mobile station) 1 mile down rt. 36 and you'll see the sign for NYIRP on the left, follow that road 2 miles till you see the track on your right.
It's an easy ride with gas, walmart, food, wegmans, and more gas all along the way.
Track has a nice concesion stand - dogs, bergs, chick tenders, coffee, pop bathrooms and free compressed air outlet for tires or air tools.
So what do you guys say!??

what's their wednesday night activities? I've got previous commitments that evening normally, but I'm working out some time off this summer. I'd love to come out and race. Do they have some street bracket class or is it just test and tune?

Joel, Wednesday nights is their TROPHY night as well as test and tune. They have Super pro, Modstock, Street (thats us), import, truck and motorcycle & sled classes. It is alot of fun, no pressure.
Gates open at 5:30 with time trials at 6:00, racing at 8:00. Pretty loose on Wednesday nights. They love the B-Bodies.
I just ran my personal best at 13.61 and that was with a bad short time and bad O2 Sensor.
They have the new LED lights now as well. If your light was in the .6-.7 range it will now be in the .5 range. I have 4 red lights with .506 and .516 lights already.

Bummer, RAINED OUT AGAIN!!! At least I got in and had a cheeseburger and fries. Dave, long ride for NADDA huh?? You're going to learn to take the cell phone and/or call the track before you leave. We call, it was on, about 5:10. So Robbie and I drove out there. Started to rain about 5 miles from the track. We went right to the Pit Stop and got some food, while waiting for it they called it.

For now, I like that, have to start adding that when I tell people about it

Hope to pick up a beater and park the real car for the snowy season and do some work on the engine in it now. Seems like overkill to do a total rebuild with the block I have when the 'new' one is pretty low mileage from an old fart car... Not sure yet though, have to do my homework on where I'm going with it first

Thanks Rob for inviting us all out over the past 5 years to RAISSE drag day.

John, I know you take a lot of shit from the guys on here about not racing but really a pass now and then doesn't hurt anything. My dad even runs his stock 9C1 now and then. The way I see it, doesn't hurt it any more than flooring it from a light. When you start upping the power significantly things start breaking but for folks like me it's pretty safe
Dave, maybe someone 'round here has some 3.73s you could pick up cheap, maybe trade for? Once you get those in you'll wonder how you lived without 'em. But if bracket racing is your thing, doesn't matter how fast your car is as long as it's consistent. Faster just makes it more fun

dW - Seeing that Photo of a familiar drag strip we all know in New York.
Has me fired up.
I feel confident now,
My 9 year old Lt1 drivetrain with 128,500 miles on it.
Will get me down the dragstrip.
Without dropping any fluids.
Or spreading broken parts across the dragstrip.
It's too bad that Big Bad Blue is mechanically wornout for the job.
That's the Hot Rod I want to run if it had a brand new engine.
The Old -- 92 Caprice Super Slug
Would have been awful to run down the strip.
What did Wutz run with that 170 horse - 4000lb - 2:56 geared bath tub?

Why don't you just try and polish them for now and then coat them over the winter or something...they're stainless, so they're not rusty they're just darkened from use, which itself also looks cool too IMO...
