Summit - between Scoggey Dickens, Summit, Jegs, difference between GMHP rockers (AKA Crane), Comp ProMagnums, and the Crane Gold was about $30 - So went to Summit got it all in one shot saved shipping.

We'll try installing these this weekend and see how/what they do for ET's - Then $$ willing a cam in w/push rods in July/August along with a new opti or at least a cap & rotor. Then start saving for a extra 4L60E cause ya know that will be going soon.

Well got off to a good but slow start - got the rear-end parts all set and squared away with Luc on Friday night!

Sunday started the next set of projects. RR'd the air bag lines - found my leaks thanks for the parts Rob! Then we stripped the exhaust and re-coated it with Eastwood 1200* high temp silver satin coating - looks cool.

W/mother's day we didn't get started until late but we started the roller rocker job. We picked up a compact valve spring compresser (engine bay is tight & new one is tiny and is working good so far), valve stem seals, and a wiper puller this morning. Plus, Advanced Auto had Stoner's "More Shine Less Time" tire dressing on availble and on sale, buy-one get one free!! It's by far the best tire dressing I have ever used and it has not been available in a store near me for ~2 years! - Score!!!

Anyway started the project by removing the wipers, cowl, to remove the wiper motor. Pulled the alternator, and then valve covers. Inside was very clean no sludge, debris, or gunk.

Fun but slow - hey isn't that just so me smile.gif

Nick is getting some more hands on and is enjoying it - some snaps shots plus one mothers day one!

Man can you belive that dust hiding under the fuel rail covers - must get that cleaned!!!

Well - we got one cylinder done anyway - will index everything after they are in - i hope smile.gif

Dave and Nick,

Good seeing you and your Family. Your SS is looking good under the hood.

Thanks for the Tip on the 2 for 1 Tire Spray Sale.
I know BK will be proud of us having those tires looking good.

Dave --- Good luck with the upgrades on your SS.

Happy Mother's Day to all our Mothers and Wives.

Dave,
Our Advance Auto Store on Rte 5 in Albany.
Big Dissapointment today hahaha.gif for Wutz. No Stoner Brand tire dressing On Sale.
They had some other tire brand - I think it was Black Magic -- 2 for 1.

Tried out something new tonight for the first time.
"Mothers" Brand -- "Back-to-Black"
Exterior Bumper & Trim Care -- Revitalizes all color exterior Vinyl -Rubber - Plastic and Flat finishes.

My Southern 9c1 that never seen snow or salt while Stationed near the North Carolina / Virginia Border.
All the exterior black trim was faded after 11 years.

After using this product tonight from Mothers,
Seems to clean and put a shine back into the Black Plastic.

John - Think the store stock is hit and miss that's why I was so surprised to see Stoner's product there!

Install is going good but slow - didn't get home till 6:15 and didn't hit the garage till 7:30. J - stoped by to shoot the sh#t. By 11:30 had all but two cylinders left - (6 & 8):

Like those Photos Dave, -- Keep em coming.

Your Valve springs remind me.
When I changed out the original wornout shocks on BBB at 130,000 miles.
The New front shocks ------- actually raised the vehicle up.

Keep up all the work your doing. I'm enjoying the photos and story.

Brenda bigangel.gif went round & round with me this morning.
In a good way.

Ideas I have had since winter.
It Boils down to No free time to do the work & No extra cash to do what I would like to do.

Our Son Mike made a simple suggestion at the Breakfast table this morning.
Dad - I'll take BBB off your hands so you do not have to keep fixing it.

This ole mans plan
Mike will get BBB.
Steve will get the GodFather in 4 years.
Dad will keep the Heavy Chevy

Wutz

Peter May and I used that valvespring compressor - nice tool. We also just set the piston to TDC on each cylinder to physically prevent the valves from dropping - saves you from having to pull the sparkplugs.

Back together fire right up - might have to re-adjust the driver side one of the cyl 1, 3 or 5, seems a tad noisier than I'd prefer. I did set them up a bit light - split the difference between 1/2 and 3/4 of a turn after zero lash. That's the good news - Bad news is the water pump has sprouted a leak - oh well better here than on the road! - Now new opti cap or not that is the question!?
