OK so here is a question for those more well versed with LT1s then I. My wagon has an electric & mechanical fan due to the HD Cooling. I do nothing heavy duty with this car. Since one of my plans is to replace the mechanical fan with an electric one, but future projects done in pieces will include a water pump and cap & rotor. Unfortunately done seperately because of a leak & money. Would it hurt once the mechanical fan is removed to leave it out, and run the car with just the electric one for the winter into the spring? What do the Standard Cooling cars come with? I don't want to have to put it back on if I can avoid it.

Cars came with dual electric fans, think wagons were the same. I've heard of people removing the mechanical fan and running just the electric, but it's not a bad idea to change the program to lower the temp it kicks on at. I wouldn't worry about it in winter so much, though.

If it were my car, I'd take the fan out and not be concerned about it. If it's ODBI and you know someone local with a cable and software, it's easy to change for the time being.
